Bangladesh keen to increase exports to Qatar

Doha: Bangladesh is eyeing to increase its export of food and non-food items to Qatar with the support of commercial outlets operating in Qatar. The Bangladesh Embassy in Qatar has announced to support the initiative to expand the market for Bangladeshi products. 

In addition to enhanced contacts at the government level, the Embassy is also increasing direct communication with various non-governmental business organisations and companies. 

As part of the initiative, Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Md. Jashim Uddin and Lulu Group International Director Dr. Mohamed Althaf held a meeting yesterday morning. Lulu Group International is one of the leading grocery, electronics and readymade garment outlets in Qatar.

During the meeting, it was agreed to organise a webinar to connect the Lulu Group with exporters of Bangladeshi-ready made garments, foodstuffs and vegetables among others. 

Lulu Group Director has given assurance of all support for display and promotion of Bangladeshi jute products, handicrafts, seasonal vegetables from Bangladesh by setting up a Bangladesh Corner in the Lulu outlets. He also expressed interest in importing fruits, readymade garments and vegetables from Bangladesh.

Embassy Counsellor for Political and Economic Affairs Md. Mahbur Rahman and Lulu Group Regional Manager Shanavas P.M were present at the meeting.
